Stop the UN Climate Change Treaty!

On October 14, Lord Christopher Monckton, a noted climate change skeptic, gave a presentation at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. In this 4 minute excerpt from his speech, he issues a dire warning to all Americans regarding the United Nations Climate Change Treaty, scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen in December 2009.

Lord Monckton served as a policy adviser to Margaret Thatcher. He has repeatedly challenged Al Gore to a debate, which Gore has refused. Monckton sued to stop Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" from being shown in British schools due to its inaccuracies. The judge found in favor of Monckton, ordering 9 serious errors in the film to be corrected. Lord Monckton travels internationally in an attempt to educate the public about the myth of global warming.

Hispano Spending Power in Texas

Study: Hispanics pumped $171 billion into Texas economy in 2008

Hispanic buying power in Texas is expected to jump 47 percent to $252 billion by 2013, according to a study by the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia. The study found that Hispanic households contributed more that $171 billion to the Texas economy last year.

Texas was home to 8.9 million Hispanics in 2008, or 37 percent of the state’s population, according to figures from the U.S. Census Bureau. Businesswise, the Top 20 Hispanic-owned companies pumped nearly $4 billion into the Texas economy last year, and employed 14,617 people, according to the 2008 Hispanic Business 500. Updated figures are expected to be released next year by the Census, and Texas Comptroller Susan Combs projects the number to be even higher. “We expect to see significant growth in Hispanic-owned businesses,” she said. “By encouraging growth and diversity, we provide opportunities for all businesses, large or small, to grow, prosper and propel our economy.”

Gonzales was appointed Attorney General in February 2005 by President George W. Bush. Gonzales was the first Hispanic to serve as United States Attorney General. Gonzales served as general counsel when George Bush was Governor, and subsequently he served as Secretary of State of Texas and then on the Texas Supreme Court. From 2001 to 2005, Gonzales served in the Bush Administration as White House Counsel.
